Condolences

Condolence From: Graziano Galati
Condolence: It’s been almost five years since his passing, and I studied with him in the early 1970’s, and I still think about Sensei Carr. He was my first introduction to the wisdom of the east. He was a master in the martial arts, and a master storyteller who often blew our minds with his many narratives after class. Meeting him was a transition point in my life and I shall forever be grateful that I had a chance to have him as a teacher.

Condolence: I had the pleasure of being taught the true art of Karate by this man in the early too late 1990’s. Bill taught me about respect, honour and dedication. At the time I was too young to understand, but his teachings would eventually become a pillar to the way I conducted myself as a man today.

A story to tell: There was picture that hung above the large mirrors of Bill’s Dojo of a Crane trying to eat a small Frog. The Frog, half way down the Cranes throat! has its hands around the Cranes neck with the caption – Don’t Ever Give Up. This is an image I will never forget. Above all the training, all the sweat filled Gi’s, Bill’s honest criticism and the fun filled family and friend events, I will always remember that he taught me never to give up.

Bill was a great man and I’m honoured to have had him a part of my life. He will be forever missed.

Condolence: I trained with Sensei Carr in the early 1990's as a young teen. I became: disciplined, focused, stronger mentally and physically, goal oriented, and respectful of people around me.

Sensei Carr was a true master of his craft, and will be remembered by all his students, friends, and family for his passion and dedication.

Thank you!
RIP

Condolence From: Ron Muszynski
Condolence: Please except my sincere condolence on the loss of Bill. Bill worked on many of my projects over the years and also worked in my own homes. My wife and I enjoyed Bill's sense of humour, dedication, integrity and down to earth attitude. Bill touched all who worked with us at Ravensbrook Homes and he will be dearly missed. He shared a memory with me that exemplifies the man that he was. When he was travelling in Spain, Bill booed at the sight of the matador prodding a bull in the bull ring. All others attending were cheering and Bill was booing. He had the courage to speak when most would not. I feel deeply priledged to have met Bill and I considered him a friend.

Condolence:

A Master

By day he works with wood; by night with hearts, and in either case, it is a labor of love.
Night after night he suspends his role as a dedicated husband and father and takes up the mantle of Shihan in the art of Karate-Do; constantly training; striving for perfection; not only for himself, but as with the celebrated masters before him…for his students.
Yet to the many privileged to train under him, or who have faced him in the arena, Shihan Carr is himself such a master…a master who demands but one thing from all who wish to train with him; the one thing he guarantees in return: everything!
Alert, focused, in the traditional white Gi, the knot on his black belt thread-bare after decades of teaching, he bows out of respect to his students; boys and girls…men and women…who trust this relentless warrior in the development of the discipline and courage necessary to replace self-consciousness with self-confidence; awkwardness with grace: uncertainty with accomplishment…and now and then watch with pride as some who give their all, are themselves transformed into champions.
Respecting the fact that the greatest man I ever knew was my father; himself a valiant warrior; little did I know that with Shihan Carr in my life, I would again be witness to time-honored principles and integrity of the highest standard.
