Obituary for Edward F Yorke

Edward Franklin Yorke passed away on July 22, 2019 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Julia, his sister Peggy Burns, his children Michael, John, Paul, and Maureen, their spouses Mary, Tammy and Robin, his grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Michelle, Kristen, Hannah, Madeleine, and Matthew, and great grandchildren Blake and Harrison.
His faith was a guiding force throughout his life. His family, his central focus and sense of joy. Those who knew Frank were aware of his love of learning, his devotion to family, his commitment to his faith, and his pension for reading. He cherished the time he spent with his family having the innate ability to make everyone feel uniquely special, valued and deeply loved.
Frank was a career educator and a gentleman. He began his thirty-five-year career teaching in a two-room schoolhouse, then taught in Paris, Ontario and Mississauga, before accepting a role as a principal in Halton.
In his retirement years, Frank developed a passion for golfing and travel. He became a regular at Tim Horton’s, increased his involvement in the church and in the life of his growing family. As a husband, a father and a grandfather, he relished being able to attend and participate in milestone events celebrated by his family members.
Having successfully beaten prostate cancer, when faced with brain cancer he made the decision to use the time that he had remaining on this earth to appreciate life with his family. During this time, he relished themed food events, ate copious amounts of chocolate, kept aware of current world events, and shared stories and insights with his loved ones. As he had done for his entire life, he approached this situation with fortitude and grace.
He will be sadly missed, but not forgotten, as he will live on in the hearts and minds of all of the people he has touched.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
