Obituary for Vera Langille (McKenzie)

Vera Langille

Sunrise – December 5, 1938
Sunset – January 18, 2022

Vera Clara Ann Langille (nee McKenzie) passed away peacefully under the care of her loving daughter Linda, granddaughter Shauna and family.

Vera is predeceased by her husband Leo Langille, her brother Robert, as well as sisters Marilyn and Jackie. She was the loving mother of Will (Jan), Linda (Tim), Rob and Steven and sister to Joan, Donna, Leslie, Heather ( Ted) and brother Ron. Vera was a loving granny and will be greatly missed by Kyle, Bradley, Cameron, Jordan, Jaclyn, Shauna, Olivia and Tyler.

Vera’s love and respect for the great outdoors likely stemmed from her birthplace in Englehart , Ontario. She came to Toronto when she was just 16 and at aged 18 she went west to B.C. where she met her husband Leo. She and Leo later returned to Mimico Ontario to raise their family.

Vera loved travel taking many road trips (even hitchhiking) across Canada and a memorable one to Tijuana Mexico. She sang and travelled with her church choir and had many memorable road trips with her kids and grandkids. She loved to bowl, attend events and festivals, to bake and play games, especially cards.

Vera was a dedicated volunteer for the Anglican Church and Fairfield Senior Centre. She was strong, capable and well read, always on top of the news and political happenings of the times. Vera was adventurous. She even got her ACTRA card and was an extra in movies. She had the mind set of recycle, repair and reuse before it was even a thing. Vera liked all kinds of music but Elvis was definitely KING .

Besides her love for her cottage on WhiteStone lake and her home town of Englehart and all her friends and family there she never lost her love of her husband’s home town of River John, Nova Scotia. She held dear the family and long standing friendships she had there.

Most of all she loved her family and we always knew it. Our consolation is that Vera is now in our hearts and minds alongside her husband Leo Langille or as she called him her “sunshine”.

Special thanks to Sandra from Spectrum and the lovely women from CBI for their support and the care they gave.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be directed to the Alzheimer’s Society at alz.to.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and limitations, a small funeral mass will be held at Christ Church St. James 194 Park Lawn
Rd. Etobicoke

A celebration of Vera’s life will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
