Obituary for Valerie Dormady

Valerie Mavis Dormady (Bayliss) earned her wings Thursday, August 19th, 9 days before her 84th birthday. Val was born in England and emigrated to Canada with her mother, father, and sister when she was just a young girl. She quickly acclimated to her new country and carefully maintained a balance of strong Canadian Pride with a healthy nod to her British ancestry. Val was a kind, lovely soul who enjoyed a good chat with family, friends and even strangers, and always cherished weekly calls with her loved ones. She loved her plants and flowers, Cadbury chocolate, greeting cards, and never missed an episode of Coronation Street. Val loved watching hockey and football, especially the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Argonauts. She collected stamps and coins and teddy bears--lots of teddy bears! While she enjoyed many things, nothing came close to her love for her family; she adored her son, Ken, and ensured he was her number one priority. When the grandkids arrived, there was no limit to the love she showered on them. She leaves a legacy of love and kindness. Val is survived by her son, Ken (Roberta), grandchildren Brennan (Alex) and Cheyenne (Cody), great grandson, Cole and a second great grandbaby due in the Spring of ‘22. She is survived by her sister Hilary (the late Bart), niece Maureen (Sean), nephew Edward (Christine). Val was predeceased by her husband, Bill, nephew Steven, parents Albert and Elisabeth Bayliss and daughter Wendy. Private cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dorothy Ley Hospice Center in Val’s name are greatly appreciated.
