Thelma Helene Shaver Harris
December 28 1926 – December 26 2022
Thelma was born December 28 th , 1926 in Clarkson, Ontario and was raised with four siblings on her family’s farm in Lorne Park. She attended Port Credit high school where she formed close and cherished friendships that lasted into old age. In the late 1940’s, Thelma began work as a secretary at
the publishing firm John C. Winston where she met Dave Harris whom she married in 1950.
They settled in Lorne Park and raised four children: Judy, Neil, Rob and Kathy. In the 1970’s, Thelma returned to the workplace as an office accountant at Pinehaven Nurseries and Hassall’s Garden Centre.
After her husband suffered a serious fall, she retired to care for him till his death.
Thelma loved to draw and paint and took art lessons throughout her life, beginning in childhood. From an early age she was also a voracious reader. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and antique collecting, was a fine cook and excelled at handicrafts where her artistic eye and natural skill were apparent.
Thelma passed away peacefully in Mississauga hospital, Monday, December 26 th , 2022, two days before her 96 th birthday. She is survived by her children Judy Harris, Rob Harris and Kathy Keeler, by her son-in-law Kevin Keeler and her daughter-in-law Denise Harris, by her grand-children Brandy Harris,
Matt Harris, Christine Castellarin-Harris and Andrew Keeler and by her two great-grand-children Kuba and Nela Harris.
We would like to thank the palliative care staff at Credit Valley and Mississauga hospitals for the attention and treatment Thelma received.
Our beloved mom and grammy will be missed so very much and will ever remain a part of us.
