APRIL 29, 1932 – SEPTEMBER 17, 2020

Mom was married to the love of her life, John Beck Jennings, for 58 years. Pat and John had a daughter Tannisse. Pat was always there for her family. She leaves behind Tannisse, son-in-law Neil, grandsons Andrew and Scott, many nieces and nephews, extended family and her cat Nick.

Mom was born in Winnipeg, the daughter of Gerald and Eleanor McRae. Grandfather was a bank manager with CIBC. He moved around with the bank during his career. While growing up Mom lived in Winnipeg, Medicine Hat, Kingston Jamaica, and Halifax. The move from Jamaica to Halifax was during the war and in November, just in time for an east coast winter. Mom remembered the Halifax riots and, as a young girl, walking with her father to the bank to check all was well. They later moved to Toronto and then Port Credit.

Mom met Dad at the CIBC branch in New Toronto and the rest is history. Dad would ride the bus from New Toronto, where he lived, to Port Credit to visit Mom. Dad proposed to Mom at Kennebeck while watching the sun set. He then asked for Grandfather’s permission. Grandfather said Dad didn’t make enough money although he said yes anyway. Mom and Dad were married September 11, 1954 in the chapel at St. Michael’s Cathedral, Toronto. Because Mom was Catholic and Dad was Anglican, they could not be married in St. Mary’s church in Port Credit.

Pat and John had a wonderful life together. Both were very romantic and loving to each other. Tannisse was born June 29, 1955, 9 months and 14 days after the wedding.

Mom was a banker with CIBC for 45 years. She loved her family, her friends, and Kennebeck. Mom loved to travel. She loved Barbados where her Mom and Dad spent winters after Grandfather’s retirement. Mom also loved to socialize with her many friends in Port Credit and Cognashene.

Mom had a lifetime love of animals. There was always a cat(s), a dog or both in her home. While living in Kingston Jamaica Mom attended school. On her way home from school she would stop at the market and buy chickens, goats and other animals and take them home. At night the animals would disappear. Mom would then buy them back again from the market the next day.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 11 Peter St. S., Mississauga (Port Credit), ON., L5H 2G1, on Thursday October 01, 2020 at 11 AM. Interment will be at the St. James-on-the-Lines Cemetery, Penetanguishene, ON. on a later date.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, staff and volunteers at the Dorothy Ley Hospice for their caring support of Mom during her stay. Thanks to the staff at the Skinner & Middlebrook Funeral Home for their caring service. The family appreciates the spiritual guidance and support provided by Father Michael Simoes.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be directed to the Mississauga Humane Society or the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
