Obituary for Rose Kozik

Rose Kozik

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Rose Kozik, passed away on Sunday, November 20 at the age of 95.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Irene Chorny (Eugene), Helen Feith (Andre), John Kozik (Linda), and Ted Kozik (Maureen). Rose was a very caring Babcia to her grandchildren, Adam and Matthew Chorny, Natasha and Richard Feith, Makenzie Kozik and Emma, Ben and Laurel Kozik. She was also very special to her great granddaughter Mattyson Chorny. Rose was predeceased by her husband Antonio and her son Richard.

Rose was born on October 14, 1927 in Poland. She lived through the very challenging times of World War II and after the war was given the opportunity for a new start in Canada. In the late 1940’s, Rose along with a few friends who were also prisoners of war set sail for Canada and eventually settled in the Roncesvalles area of Toronto. It was here that she meet her future husband, Tony who was also a recent Polish immigrant. Upon their marriage the couple moved to Port Credit where they raised their five children. Rose was instrumental in instilling the pride of her Polish heritage in her family while respecting her new country of Canada.

Rose’s family and faith were most important to her. Her wonderful family gatherings with her abundant homemade Polish food were enjoyed by all. Later in life she had the opportunity to enjoy time at the family cottage in Wasaga Beach as well as travel to various countries including the Holy Land and her beloved Poland. She will truly be missed and we will all have wonderful memories to share.

The family will gather for a visitation from 10:00-11:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 24th at Skinner & Middlebrook Funeral Home, 128 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Mississauga Long Term Care Residence for the love and support they gave Rose during her stay.
