Obituary for Rosalie Kirby

Tribute and Memoriam
ROSALIE KIRBY
September 30, 1933 – July 30, 2022
88 Years – 2 months before her 89th Birthday

It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beautiful, kind and gentle mother Rosalie Kirby
passed away on Saturday July 30, 2022 (at the stroke of midnight 00:00) in The Credit Valley
Hospital in Mississauga.

Rosalie captivated the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She could make
you smile and always wanted to be helpful and provide words of wisdom and encouragement.

She had the face of an angel, had those striking blue eyes, who reminded you of a combination of a
movie star, of Eva Gabor, of Princess Grace of Monaco, and Prime Minister Maggie Thatcher all
rolled up into one.

Our Hungarian mother was born in Titel (old Yugoslavia – now Serbia) to Hungarian Mother Elisabeth
Kokeny and German Father Karl Stefan. She could speak four languages.

Rosalie lived in Germany many years where she met and married our British father John Richard Kirby of Yorkshire England. Oldest daughter Sylvia was born in Germany and youngest daughter Julia was born in Canada.

Rosalie was the proud mother of daughters Sylvia Patricia Kirby and Julia Elaine MacLeod and she
was the loving wife of deceased husband John Richard Kirby who passed away on June 1, 2007.

Rosalie will be welcomed into the family burial plot by her late husband John Richard Kirby and late
father Karl Stefan.

Our mother's courage, strength and perseverance were not enough this time to permit her to get better
and to go home to recuperate. She seemed to have 9 lives as she was in and out of hospitals frequently
over the past 2 years. She would always say that she was a tough cookie!

Rosalie loved flowers, birds, bees, nature, and animals of all kinds. She was kind and generous and
always gave to charities. She loved to travel and always missed her European heritage and wanted to
visit her family back home.

She would always be there in person and arrived anywhere when you least expected it?

She had an unbelievable memory and could recount stories with such detail from years ago that you
envisioned what she said so that you were also able to live inside her memories. She could even tell
you conversations that took place with friends (yours and hers), a full detailing of who, what, where...?

She loved music, operettas, and art, history and culture. She was uniquely talented and could make and
design anything by hand that she put her mind to. She could sew everything from clothing, ballroom gowns, drapes, crotchet and knit the most intricate of artisan sweaters, afghans, baby clothes etc.
She could do fine needlepoint tapestries, bake professional cakes and create intricate floral arrangements. And she mastered the art of artisan jewellery and porcelain doll making. A room could be painted and wallpapered in no time. She learned to drive in her forties! Nothing hindered her talents.

You never left her home empty handed. She always made sure that you received some of her delicious
food and baked goods. Oh my God did she know how to cook and bake!

Our mother had a heart of gold. She was everyone's best friend!

We will never forget her. Her mark has been imprinted on all things in this world, great or small.

Our hearts will always remember her with fondness, but that unique spot that was hers, will
never be filled and we will be left forever wanting more of a beautiful spirit that has now been
taken too soon and flown into eternity.

We love you Sput. We miss you Momsy. May you FINALLY rest in peace. You deserved so much
more and we are proud to have been called YOUR loving daughters Sylvia and Julia.

Please join us in her celebration – She loved Flowers:
