Condolences

Condolence From: Richard Grant
Condolence: I articled with Mr. Cory in 1972 at Holden Murdoch. He profoundly influenced my approach to the law, showing me by his example that through hard work and diligence it was possible to be an excellent advocate while treating opposing counsel and parties fairly, respectfully and even kindly. A gentleman and a true professional. We are poorer for his passing, but richer for his many contributions to our profession. My condolences to the Cory family.

Condolence From: Maria Linhares de Sousa
Condolence: I send my heartfelt condolences to Justice Cory's family at this sad time. Both my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I had the privilege and honor of serving as Justice Cory's law clerk when he was a trial judge of the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1978-1979, in fact he was my "judge leader". He was a dedicated and thoughtful mentor and I learned so much about the law from him. He was also a very kind person and a pleasure to work for. I hope that your many wonderful memories of him will sustain you now and in the future. He will be missed.

Condolence From: Gregory Fitch
Condolence: I was one of many lawyers in Ontario, and indeed across this country, who benefited from the mentorship and kindness displayed by Justice Cory. What should not be lost in his many remarkable career achievements is the small differences he made in the lives of aspiring lawyers. As luck (in my case) would have it, I am now a judge of the British Columbia Court of Appeal and I will dedicate myself to becoming the role model and kindly mentor Justice Cory was to so many. My profound condolences go out to Justice Cory's family and friends.

Condolence From: William Smith
Condolence: My sincerest condolences to the entire family. I am a retired member of the RCMP who had the good fortune to travel internationally with Justice Cory, Chief Justice Lamer and others back in 1999’. I spent about a week with Justice Cory with visits to London and Zagreb. He was an extraordinary gentleman and such an accomplished individual. Rest In Peace!

Condolence: Justice Cory was a true mentor and I thank him for taking an interest in me, and in my career. It was a privilege to know him and an honour to count him as a friend. May we all live up to his example.
