Obituary for Norina MacMillan (Colosimo)

Norina MacMillan (Colosimo), 89, of Clarkson, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Wesburn Manor on February 16th, 2022.
Daughter of Antonio & Chiarina Colosimo, Norina was born in Dominion, Cape Breton, on June 8, 1932.
She married the late John Alexander MacMillan in 1952 and embarked on an important new life moving from Dominion, Cape Breton to Port Credit, Ontario, to start and raise a family.
Norina is survived by her 7 children and 11 grandchildren; John and his wife Chris and their children Ian and Madeline; Tony and his wife Elizabeth and their children Rebecca and Harry; Cathy and her children Bryan and Shannon; Teresa and her husband Dennis and their children Alex and Jo-Anne; Christine; Jennifer and her husband George and their daughter Gia; and Mike and his wife Sue and their children Kaden and Kyle.
Norina has a large extended family; she is survived by her older brother Mario, and younger sisters Adelina and Chiarina. She is predeceased by her brothers Peter, Mikey, and Orlando and her sisters Mary, Sylvia, and Candia. Norina has a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins living in Cape Breton & Halifax, Nova Scotia; Barrie, Brockville & Cooksville, Ontario; and Washington, USA.
Norina was an active member of St. Christopher’s Church in Clarkson – involved with the CWL, prayer group and choir. She was an early member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement finding joy as she sang and danced at mass.
Music was an important part of Norina’s life; her children would often wake to being serenaded by her rendition of “Walk A Mile In My Shoes”. A trip to a park along the shore of Lake Ontario included enjoying the water and singing Frank Sinatra songs – especially “Blue Skies”.
Norina also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Homemade desserts accompanied most meals and she passed along her favourite dessert recipes to her family to make and enjoy. Her Boxing Day Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner is a tradition that continues to delight family and friends.
We would like to thank the staff at Wesburn Manor for their amazing care, support, and comfort while Mom was there. Mom was a happy and flirty resident during her time at Wesburn Manor and loved the opportunities to sing and participate in the activities.
Mom you will be missed, your singing, your desserts, your love of family & church. Lift your hands high and delight in singing with the angels.
For those who can not attend, the funeral mass at St. Christopher’s Church will be live streamed – please visit the parish website: stchristophersmi.archtoronto.org
