Obituary For Mildred Pearl McCullough (nee Benjamin)
Surrounded by her family at her bedside, Mildred Pearl McCullough, age 93, passed away peacefully September 1, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born January 24, 1928 in Saint John, New Brunswick to Stanley Irvine and Mary Jane Benjamin. She married James (Jim) McCullough in 1945 and moved from New Brunswick to Long Branch, Etobicoke in the early 1950’s to raise their five children. They soon became an active part of the local community with membership at the Moose Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion in Long Branch as well as keeping involved with their children’s sporting activities.

Mildred loved to play cards, especially poker and euchre. She was fondly referred to as the “Euchre Queen” and often joked with her opponents that they should read her book on how to play the game properly. She also enjoyed playing darts at the Legion and played some recreational hockey in her younger years.

For many years Mildred worked at Litton Systems in Rexdale. In her latter years, she became a respected supermarket demonstrator and was well known at many of the local supermarkets. After Jim’s passing in 1968, she raised her five children on her own.

Mildred is survived by: her daughter Patricia Moses (and husband Stephen), her son James Stanley (Jimmy) McCullough (and wife Debbie), her daughter Cathy McCullough and her son Danny McCullough; her grandchildren, Dean McCullough, Alecia Tanchak, Jason Fowler, Carrie Moses, Rebecca Harbowy, Trista Persaud and Rachael Bertoia; plus 9 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews down East.

Mildred is predeceased by her husband Jim, her daughter Brenda Fowler, her brothers Stanley and Joseph, and her sisters Shirley and Marie.

In keeping with Mildred’s wishes, in lieu of flowers/donations, she expressed the hope that you all keep your family close and loving.
