Condolence From: Natalie Payne
Condolence: I worked with Mike 15 years ago when I was a summer student in the Parks Dept. He was my crew leader and it was a great summer under his leadership. We had so much fun and it was one of the best summers I have had. I reflect back on it frequently. Mike was such a genuine, funny, compassionate and thoughtful person. When he called me out of the blue 15 years later to see if my phone number still worked I was delighted to hear from him. I was gut punched when he told me he had cancer. I enjoyed our phone conversations but regret I wasn't able to meet up with him. It seemed like I was either working or he was having appointments or not feeling well enough. I thought we had more time. I found out today he was gone. I had a sinking feeling when my calls to him over the last few weeks were unanswered. You were a great person Mike and you will be missed. Rest easy.

Condolence: Tomorrow we say goodbye to one of the sweetest, kindest guys I ever knew. With his infectious laugh he lit up the party. I'll never forget the great times we all had together as a group of longtime friends as well as the disappointment when those darn Leafs lost another one...none were better or longer lasting .Thank you for being part of my life over the many years Houst, Rest in peace Mikey.

Condolence: Mike it was always a pleasure talking to you. It starts off with a chuckle and then the conversation gravitates to Baseball Hockey and then Golf and it’s been going on for 30 years. I’m going to miss that especially the golf talk. Your story’s of you being a professional pga tour caddy to me it’s fascinating. You’ve caddied for world class players trusting you to give the right information and advice on every shot these players make is remarkable. You are going to be missed. The golf talk will go on but it won’t be the same without a professional caddy to listen to.
My condolences to your family

Condolence: I just heard this news today and my stomach just sank. My deepest condolences to the entire Zardo family. You have not only lost a great father and grandfather, but a caring, loving and genuine man. I shared a lot of laughs and a lot stories with Mike, but the stories he loved to tell were about his family. Know that you all held a very special spot in his heart and he loved you with everything he had. Mikey, I always wanted to visit you when in Port Credit, but today made me regret not stopping by. You will be truly missed by everyone who's hearts you touched and thank you for the many years of friendship and memories. Rest in peace my friend.

Condolence: So very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was
a great guy, who always knew how to brighten up our day. He worked for Parks & I worked for Works & would see him when he brought in equipment for repair. He was a very honest person with no phoniness or pretension about him. What you see is
what you got with Mike. I very much liked & respected him - he once brought me a baby rabbit
which he saved from being run over by grass
cutting equipment. I cared for it until it was big enough to be released (at a conservation park).
That's the kind of guy he was : big-hearted & caring.
I hope that when I leave this world, I,ll see him again on the other side. Rest in Peace, Mike.

Condolence: To the Zardo family.... I was so sorry to
hear of the loss of Mike. Even when
something like this is expected, we still
can’t process what it will be like to not
have our loved one with us anymore.

I have been a work colleague of
Mike’s since the late ‘80’s. Mike was a
guy you just could not like. Always
smiling and listening to his sports on
680!

Rest In Peace, Mike. You are no longer
in pain. Sue

I enjoyed all the time I spent with him. Working, having lunch, talking and laughing. Mike had a genuine laugh. I wish this world could have been kinder to him. I'm glad of the time I got to spend with him last month. I got to hear a bit of that laugh again. I will genuinely miss him. Rest in Peace Mike....Rest in Peace.
