Condolences

Condolence From: James M’Kenzie-Hall
Condolence: In his Memoirs my Father Squadron Leader John M’Kenzie-Hall RAF, MVO (1923-2018)
Wrote of his Wartime friendship in 1942 with Michael Gordon Welch as follows:
“Lastly, there was Michael Gordon Welch from Argentina who was quiet, intensely religious, reliable, very determined and a staunch friend. We remained in America after graduation to instruct at American schools, but I lost touch with Michael after his posting to. B.F.T.S. in Miami, Florida”.
There is a wartime photo of Michael as an Aviation Cadet in 1942 in the lower class of 43B at the 51st Army Air Forces Primary Flying School, Tuscaloosa, Alabama Album.

Condolence: I am so sorry to learn of Mike’s death......a long time friend and as he would often say I am the first person he met when being introduced to The Tax Executives Institute at The Royal York Hotel back in 1968.

Condolence: I am so sad to get this news. Michael was so close to my mother Betty and a great companion to her when she passed away in 2006. I attached a photo of them together on her last birthday.

Condolence From: Kit Kennard
Condolence: Michael was one of those of the greatest generation and of the over 700 Argentines who volunteered to support the allies in World War 2.

We had dinner in London together at an officer's club/hotel that managed to serve the worst martini I have ever tasted. That trip was to support the launch of Claudio Meunier's book ALAS DE TRUENO "Wings of Thunder". He told me of his love for estancia life and his secret US air training in Arizona (?) prior to Pearl Harbour.

I will be in Jamaica and cannot attend the service.

If anyone wishes to contact me for my spare copy of that book, Michael being one of those profiled, please contact me

Per ardua ad astra.

Condolence From: Joseph Pariselli
Condolence: I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Mr. Welch. Although we only saw each other at family functions it seems we shared a short lifetime together. Always engaging in “meaningful chats” about everything and anything, Mr. Welch has a natural way of making me feel special. He was kind, compassionate, humourous and enlightening. His love of life was truly something to be admired and envied. A great role model for us all. I learned a lot from Mr. Welch and although he may have left us, the learning goes on. Rest In Peace Mr. Welch and thank you for all the “meaningful chats”. P.S. When I get to 98, I hope I can win at Bingo the way he always did.
