Passed away peacefully with Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) at his home in Mississauga, on Monday, June 10th, 2019, in his 89th year. Loving husband for 52 years to Ada Nora LeRoy (deceased). Beloved father of Sandra (Brant), Brian (Gail), Scott (Sasha), and Kimberly (Michael). Proud grandfather of Maxwell (Kim), Erik and Alexia (Scott), Evan and Ashley (Brian), Michelle, Jennifer, and Jacquelyn (Sandra). Great-Grandfather to Loki and Jaxson (Michelle, Jennifer). Survived by sister Margaret (Eric Nelson), and predeceased by brother Bob (Marion). Dear son of the late Herbert and Helen Fiddes. Melville was educated at the University of British Columbia where he graduated with a Chemical Engineering Degree in 1952 after which he began his long time employment with CIL (explosives division) and later with IAPA (Industrial Accident Prevention Association). His work gave him the opportunity to live in many parts of Canada, from Victoria to Montreal, retiring in Ontario. Mel loved to spend time with his family, golf, watch sports, go for walks and play pool with the crew from the senior’s centre. Special thanks to the Trillium Palliative Care Team, Dying with Dignity,www.dyingwithdignity.ca and MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying) www.maidhouse.ca for the caring assistance and support during his illness. Friends may be received at Skinner & Middlebrook Funeral Home, 128 Lakeshore Rd. E, Mississauga on Wednesday, June 12th at 10:30am. Funeral service to follow in the chapel at 11am.
