Obituary for Mary Winifred Buck (Moore)
MARY WINIFRED BUCK (nee MOORE)
Mary, dear wife of Bob (Robert G.) died peacefully at Ian Anderson Hospice on August 23 ,2021 with Bob by her side, Mary was born in Oshawa February 8,1930 to the late James A. Moore and Edith May Moore (nee Colver). She was the youngest of five siblings and was predeceased by sisters Ruth Jones, Betty Warnica, and Gertrude Moore and by brother David Moore..
Left to mourn are her husband Bob, sisters-in-law Catherine Buck and Betty Lou Buck, and nephews and nieces Wayne and David Warnica, Gwen and Bruce Moore, Olwen Jones, Leslie Stewart, Peter and Michael Buck ,Susan Kerrigan, Steven Buck, Karen Moser, Barbara Doyle, Susan Fischer and Bruce Doyle as well as their offspring. Mary will also be missed by her many friends.
In her younger days Mary was a medical lab tech having gained her training in Ottawa. She later worked in Windsor and Edmonton before returning to Toronto. Mary always loved nature and was an enthusiastic participant in outdoor activities such as golf where she kept a.column on her score card for birds seen or heard during the round. Her interest in birds led to many birding trips to places such as Costa Rica , the Peruvian Amazon, Arizona, Hawaii etc and annual trips to Point Pelee. Other favourite activities included canoeing, camping and sailing. .Mary was very proud of her 47 successive years of yoga interrupted by covid in 2019. She had intended to return this year.. Mary also liked the challenge of word games such as scrabble and cryptic crosswords.
Mary and Bob have been happy residents of Lorne Park Estates for 50 years. Mary was introduced to the Toronto Island community many years ago where her husband's grandmother had built a cottage in 1935 after tenting on that spot for 20 years.. Mary loved the community and enjoyed many summers at the cottage.
Cremation has taken place. No visitation is planned, only a private graveside service at this time.. If desired charitable donations may be made to Ian Anderson Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society, Birds Canada or to a charity of your choice.
