Obituary for Marvelle Blanche Corbett (White)

Marvelle Blanche Corbett (nee White)
February 16, 1926 – August 20th, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marvelle Blanche White at the age of 95 at Erin Mills Lodge on August 20, 2021.

Marvelle Blanche Corbett was born February 16, 1926 in Artemesia Township, Grey County, to Ethel White (nee Middaugh) and Robert White.

Predeceased by loving husband Robert Corbett and brothers and sisters Everett, Harvey, Raymond, John, Clarence, Alma and Irene. Marvelle was the devoted mother of Janice Corbett-McKay and Joyce Humbert, mother-in-law of Roger Humbert, loving grandmother of Michael Corbett-McKay and Daniel Corbett-McKay and beloved aunt of many nephews and nieces.

Marvelle grew up on a farm in Grey County at Saugeen Junction near Proton Station. She married Robert (Bob) Corbett in 1948. They settled first in Mimico and in 1952 moved into a house that Bob built in Port Credit. In 2018 they moved into Port Credit Residences and in April of 2019 to Erin Mills Nursing Home.

Marvelle was known by all as a very kind and compassionate person. She dearly loved her family including extended family members. She loved get-togethers with family and friends. She was a great cook, baker and gardener. She was especially known for her pies, butter tarts, date squares and cabbage rolls.

She sewed many of her children’s clothes and her own, even bridesmaid’s dresses for niece’s weddings. She was a long-time member of Cawthra Park United Church and of the UCW. She was an avid Leafs fan and a Jays fan.

She played piano and when she was young, also guitar. She would often accompany her father and others at dances. The first music she learned would have been hymns that her older sister Alma taught her to play on the pump organ.

She will be remembered fondly by many and live on in the hearts of family and friends.
