Joan Margaret Patterson
October 18, 1927-January 17, 2022
Joan passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Devoted wife of the late William Moore Patterson. Much loved mother of Rob (Helena), Susan, and Scott (Patricia). Cherished Grandma of Sean and Colin.
Daughter of the late Ross and Alma Helwig and loving sister of Robert Ross Helwig, Joan grew up in Toronto. She spoke fondly of the time she spent at St. Clement’s School where she met many life-long friends. When Bill and Joan married, they soon moved to Clarkson where they raised their three children. Joan lived in her Clarkson home for 66 years and enjoyed watching the deer, foxes and birds that frequented her backyard.
Joan was one of those people who could instantly make you feel at ease. She enjoyed good conversation, sipping scotch on the patio and reading a fine book. Her favorite getaway was time spent at the family cottage on Twelve Mile Lake.
