Obituary for Isabel Mary Bellis

Isabel Bellis
June 1935 to January 2022

The Bellis family announces with great sadness the passing of their matriarch, Isabel Mary Bellis, who died peacefully at Belmont House on January 9, 2022, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 86 years old.

Born in Pembroke, Ontario on June 18, 1935, Isabel's parents were Lorne and Mary St. Denis.

Isabel is predeceased by her loving husband John Edward (Duke), their son Neil and her brother Thomas as well as her parents. She is survived by family members: Ron (son) and Lisa, Darren (son) and Kim, Jean (daughter) who is predeceased by Roger Beaulieu and Kyra (daughter-in-law) who is predeceased by Neil.

Isabel is also survived by grandchildren Kyle (Nisha). Kevin (Darin), Stephen (Krista), Mitchell (Anna), Bradford (Liz) and seven great-grandchildren.

Conversation and interest in other people were Isabel's greatest gifts. She was loved by many friends that she encountered in the Church, while raising her family, through Duke's time at Sunnybrook Hospital Veteran's Wing and with people she met on a daily basis.

Isabel was devoted to Duke and provided personal care during his period of suffering from Alzheimer’s at home and then through his extended stay at Sunnybrook Hospital. The family supports the work of the Alzheimer’s Society in battling the disease and ask that donations be directed to them at alz.to.

The family wishes to express its’ gratitude to the staff of Belmont House and particularly those of 2 West Wing who provided attention and care throughout Isabel’s stay there and particularly during the Covid-19 outbreak. Donations to Belmont House can be made at belmonthouse.com.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and limitations, a funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church. 1701 Bloor Street West, Toronto at a later date.
