Condolence: When I saw the photo, I thought: perfect, this is exactly how I remember Iole, always with a lovely smile. To us ‘newer’ neighbours, Iole was the quintessential Italian mother (we all need one). Then, she became the neighbourhood grandmother. She would lean into the strollers and declare “Beautiful” with that smile – this was such a seal of approval, and of course every baby received it. Walking past our house on her regular evening ‘constitutional’ she would always wave. In later years, Lili took such good care and enabled her mother to live out her long life in our special Old Port Credit neighbourhood where she had close friends, now passed. I know she missed her husband terribly and now they are together. Iole was such a part of the community spirit here, that I will always see her in my mind’s eye, out walking on our street and waving. I see her now. What a “Beautiful” soul. God bless, D.
