Obituary for Gregor McPherson "Rory" Adair

ADAIR, GREGOR MCPHERSON (Rory) August 10, 1945 in Ayr, Scotland
It is with deep sadness that the family of Rory announces his passing after a long courageous battle with illnesses on December 26, 2020. Surrounded by his family his beloved wife Laureen Adair for over 52 years, and his loving children son Gordon Stuart and daughter Tammy Lynne. Pre-deceased by his parents Gregor, McGregor Adair and Elizabeth Dewar Adair (Weir) both of Scotland. Throughout his life, Rory was committed to his wife, and family and would always put them first. He was always there to help those in need as he was a gentle soul. He had a loving, kind, genuine heart, and a wonderful sense of humour. He knew how to make a silent room loud with laughter as that was his nature. He was passionate about hockey, and spent many years coaching kids in the Mississauga Hockey League, and representing as president of Clarkson Hockey Association as well as on the board of directors for the MHL. More recently he was involved in organizing and had involvement in a senior hockey group (RHL-Commissioner) where he developed many everlasting friendships. He had a love of bowling and spent many years running the Youth Bowling League in Oakville and travelling the province to be in bowling tournaments with the kids as a Master Representative. During his working years he spent his time working hard for CP Rail for the Damage and Prevention Department for 40 years. He enjoyed spending time up North in the Kawarthas at the cabin, fishing, watching sports and attending sport events with his daughter, betting horses with his son and even knitting sweaters and blankets for others. He had a love for animals and prior to his illnesses, he loved taking his beloved pets for walks. Rory had the ability to always make people laugh and smile, leaving us with so many wonderful memories, and stories that will forever be with us. We as his family are blessed to have had him apart of us and blessed that he shared his love with us. We will miss him deeply and will remember him forever and always. Sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses, PCA’s at Trillium Health Partners and home care staff at Acclaim Home Health Care.
On request of the family, a private service will be held with cremation to follow. A celebration of life and interment will follow at a future date. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and Pulmonary Fibrosis Society of Ontario or a charity of your choice in Rory’s memory.
