It is with great sadness and love that we announce, after a very long illness, the passing of our father and friend Gordon Arthur Scott. Gord will be forever missed by his children Laurel Scott (Angus Crawford), Alexandra Scott, Erin Farnham (Al Williams) (Scott Farnham) and Samantha Scott (Holger Qualitz). Gord was the immensely proud Grandfather of Candace and James Crawford, Monica and Andie Beebe, and Gregory and David Farnham.He was the loving son of James Scott (deceased) and Muriel Scott (nee Woolings, deceased) and the loving brother of James (deceased).

Known for his acerbic wit and brutal honesty, Gord was quite a character. Smart as a whip, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science form Victoria Collage, University of Toronto. His golden achievement was to finish a four-hour, second year, university calculus exam, in one hour, and get 100%. After graduating, his success in programming at IBM led to productive careers as a Systems Analyst working for Coopers-Lybrand, Denison Mines, Quantum, Statslog, as well as his own management consulting company.

Gord was forever a fan of sport, but particularly golf, baseball, basketball and Alpine Skiing, especially if his grandchildren were racing. He also enjoyed the family tradition of attending the horse races after studying the racing form. He loved competition in any kind.

He spent time coaching Samantha’s softball teams and was an official umpire. It was through softball that he met Mary Ann Millar and her daughters Jennifer and Stephanie Clarke and forged a life-long friendship.

He enjoyed volunteering at the local Cat Shelter and the Donkey Sanctuary in Puslinch and was especially fond of a Mule named Hummer.

Not many could beat him at Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Chess, or Bridge and because of this he was nicknamed “IKE” for “I know everything”.

Gord had some challenges in his fifties and his health began to deteriorate, but he fought each crisis bravely. His doctors said that his tenacity for life had no bounds, that his strength and will was undeniable. Rest in peace Gordy!

His friends, Mary Ann, Stephanie and Jennifer, his poker buddies, Patti Laxton and family, and all those who knew him will miss his sense of humour, his absolute hatred of all things Humpty Dumpty Trumpty, and his provocative take on just about everything. Facebook will never be the same, however, without him.

To quote Jennifer “Look out Trump and the White House; Gordy’s gonna haunt you!”
