Obituary for Frederick James Burns

Frederick (Bob) James Burns, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2020 at the age of 83. Born on December 11, 1936 to the late Andrew and Maude Burns. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Elizabeth (nee Petch). Predeceased by his sister, Betty (Jack Thomas) and survived by his younger brother Ron (Lynn). Loving father to his two daughters, Virginia (Mark Kinney) and Patricia Alison (John Chappell). Cherished Poppa to his grandchildren (George 1 through 5), Stacey (Ben Bell), Patrick (Jessica Johnston), Christine (Josh), Nicole (Zack) and Michael (Melissa), and Santa Poppa to his great granddaughters, Hadley and Lennox. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his unique humor and input to the conversation. He was generous with all he had, including his heart. Boxing day (since he was busy on Christmas) certainly won’t be the same without him.
Fred (renamed Bob by his sister) was born in Lorne Park, on Burns Lane, in a chicken coop, where he returned to raise his family and spent his last five years in his south facing bedroom. He retired from working with the City of Mississauga Parks Department after almost 30 years. He and Beth spent their last 26 years together in Huntsville where their ashes will be laid to rest together at the cottage. At Fred’s request there will be no funeral service. As expressions of sympathy the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice in his memory.
