Obituary for Eleanor Stone Gaskin

Eleanor Stone Gaskin

On September 10 at 11:11 a.m. Eleanor joined a legion of angels as she passed into the arms of her Lord and was reunited with: her beloved husband Neil (2004), first born Ron (2020) and her Guardian Angel (her mother) May Brown (1989). Her children Donne and Mark had the honour of being bedside with their Mom in her own home, just as her script dictated. Eleanor’s son-in-law Norm and Eleanor’s five grandchildren: Mac, Cal, Natalie, Henry and Katherine will carry Nanny’s love and positivity with them forever.

Mom found great joy in seeing her small family grow to include: Brittany, Nick, Melissa, and Kai. Eleanor revelled in the presence of her two great grand-dogs Lucy and Warren, and was especially comforted by her grand-dog and kindred spirit Kobe.

While Eleanor was the biological mother of three, she was an adopted Mom to many; the first being her niece Louise Brown (Weegie). Camilla Martin and her family became an extension of hers. Mom loved being Nana to Madelyn, Tyler and Liam, and honorary mom to Farida and Steph who were amongst the bevy of angels who loved and supported her.

Eleanor may have been small in stature, but her will in pursuit of goodness and expressions of compassion, positivity, generosity, and love toward others was a force of mighty proportion. Generous to a fault, Eleanor's giving of both material and emotional support was constant. If ever in need of an antidote to cure a bad day, one only needed to put in a call to Mom/Eleanor/Nanny. She was no Pollyanna, but she was resolute in her positivity and possessed a magical touch at instilling faith and confidence that adversity could be overcome. One only had to BELIEVE that if there was a will there was a way!

While Mom has now stopped holding the hands of those who loved her, we will continue to hold her love in our hearts forever. All who knew Mom should honour her request to & "go and share some of the love you feel in your hearts and spread the spirit with others".

Eleanor was blessed and she was never shy in saying so to her friends and family multiple times a day.
Eleanor/Mom/Nanny/Nana...we are the blessed ones to have been touched by you.

Special thanks and warm wishes to Dr. Uddin and Dr. “M”; the majesty of their work goes beyond words. Thanks are also extended to Stella and Mom’s friend Violet. Thanks be to: Patience, Josephine, Aveda and Veronica for their professionalism and humanity in helping us preserve her dignity and keep Mom at home.

Visitation to be held Friday September 16, between 2:00 and 4:00 pm at Trinity Anglican Church, 26 Stavebank Road North, Mississauga with funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club, 1725 Mississauga Road, Mississauga. A private family burial will be held the next day.

In lieu of flowers Eleanor hopes that you will join her and her family in supporting the ultra-grassroots and highly impactful (non-tax-receiptable) missionary work performed in Ghana by the indomitable Reverend Betty Jordan. To donate, please visit this organized GoFundMe page.
