Condolence: I am sorry to hear of Don's passing. My condolences. I have such an affinity for his paintings that I have acquired no less than five over the years. They give me many hours of joy. In that way, Don lives on.

Condolence: I knew Barb & Don through music and we'd frequently run into each other at the bank, of all places. I have many happy memories of the wonderful music they shared to all who were blessed to know them. They came to my song circle in Newmarket on occasion and it was always a thrill to have them join in. Don was an amazing musician and a very kind person. He will be missed.

Condolence: Hello Donann, Brenden, Stephen and Elaine and families. I'm so sorry to learn from Stephen about Don's untimely death on February 8th, 2020. We, being first cousins, were only 2 months apart in age; Don being born in January 1934 and me in March 1934. We started public school together, went to high school together, harvested cabbage and carrots together at his parents' farm and went to University together. After graduation in 1956, we went our separate ways: Don to teach school and I, to pursue an engineering career at GE Canada in Peterborough. ON. We met a few times during our careers for weddings, funerals, birthdays, etc. the latest being Don's 80th Birthday in Port Credit at Donann's place. I didn't know Don's family were United Empire Loyalists. I married into the Loyalists as my wife Joan is a U.E. and we are both active in the Kawartha Branch of the UELAC in Peterborough. So, Donann and Brenden, you are both Loyalists and, if you can prove your Loyalist genealogy, you too, can place U.E. after your names. Joan and I offer our deepest sympathies to Don's extended family and offer our regrets that we cannot attend Don's funeral next Saturday March 7th in Port Credit, due to health reasons. Sincerely, Frank and Joan Lucas, and sons Timothy, Grant and Richard

Condolence: I’m so sorry that Don is gone. I hadn’t seen him in a while and we’d written not too long ago about getting together for lunch. I knew him first at Karma II Food Co-op, then as a neighbour on Briar Hill Avenue, later at folk music events and finally as a Facebook buddy. What a fine and wise man he was. RIP Don.
