Obituary for Bill Fredericks

Bill passed away, in his 91st year at Trillium Hospital on November 16th, 2022, after brief illness. He was born in Torbrook Mines Nova Scotia on March 21st 1932.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years Gwen, his sister Barbara, predeceased by his brother Jackie and daughter Susan. Loving Papa to Alicia (Frank) & Great Papa to Jonah.

From a very young age Bill made his own way in the world, in post-World War II Canada. Moving west from his Nova Scotia roots Bill worked on farms in Southwestern Ontario while still in his young teens. Continuing west he worked in logging camps and began driving trucks on ice roads. Work was often hard and dangerous as he moved back to Winnipeg and began driving trucks to and from the city through routes in northern Ontario.

Eventually Bill ended up in Toronto where he worked many years for Hansen Cartage, both as an employee and a broker. While working in Toronto Bill was introduced to the love of his life, Gwen Evans. They married in 1968 and raised their daughter, Susan in Mississauga where he and Gwen lived until his death.

Bill & Gwen enjoyed 33 years in Ahmic Lake Resort at their trailer enjoying many activities such as swimming, boating, camp fires, fishing and afternoon tea. They have a lot of good memories and made many great friends.

Bill was a real family man, amazing husband, father and Papa and will truly be missed by all. We will always have the wonderful memories.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am Wednesday November 23rd in the Chapel at Skinner And Middlebrook Funeral Home 128 Lakeshore Rd. East, Mississauga,. followed by a reception from 12:00 noon to 2pm at The Brogue Inn, 136 Lakeshore Rd. East, Mississauga.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation or Lung Health Foundation would be appreciated.

Those we love
Don’t go away,
They walk beside us
Every day.
Unseen, unheard,
but always near,
still loved, still missed
and always dear.
