Obituary for Alan Henry Roxborough
July 2nd, 1936 – April 23rd, 2021
With much sadness, we announce the passing of Alan Henry Roxborough of Port Credit, on April 23rd, 2021 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
Born in County Durham, England July 2nd, 1936 to Mary Ann (Polly) and Henry Allison Roxborough. Married February 28th, 1958 to, and survived by, the love of his life Ann Roxborough (Clarke).
Alan is survived by son Peter Alan Roxborough (wife Lena Slavkovich-Roxborough), daughter Amanda Jane Roxborough, grand children Aleksandra Leanne Roxborough, Kyle Michael Rowley and James Allison Roxborough, as well as his brothers David Roxborough and Leslie Roxborough (wife Alma).
He will also be greatly missed by much-loved Yorkie, Pumpkin.
Alan served with the RAF in Cyprus in 1958 shortly after getting married. He returned later that year and settled to raise a family in Manchester, England. In 1966 the family immigrated to Canada and eventually settled in Georgetown in 1968 where Alan worked and raised his family. Later in life Ann and Alan lived in Port Credit and Erin until they retired in Puslinch and eventually moved back to Port Credit.
Family was always the priority throughout his life. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, a cherished son, and a loyal brother. Often described as kind and generous by his friends and neighbors.
Alan was an avid football (soccer) fan, enjoyed a friendly round of golf, and loved a glass of scotch and a piece of chocolate at the end of the day. He loved the water and spent many an evening watching the sail boats on the lake from his Port Credit balcony or walking along the beach on his many visits to his family in Jupiter, Florida.
His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure; he is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
A memorial will be held when we can all be together to celebrate his life and share his memory. In lieu of flowers we ask you consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his name.
